Perched atop the lush hills of Alibaug, the Trinity retreat, a 2.5 hours drive from Mumbai along the sealine, enjoys a picturesque mountain sea view and its calm soothing winds. The main aim of the development was to create interesting vacation villas, to further elevate this outhouse experience. It is designed as a haven for those with a deep love for nature, moulding itself around the strong geometry of the cottages.

Sitting as a geometric piece in the centre of a serene painting, the space allows the user to be consumed by the open planning, inviting use of lines and planes and the playful textures of the design. The cottages come off as an interesting Jenga puzzle, playing with voids and protrusions, fabricating spaces that provide unhindered views, ample daylight and makes use of the winds to create calmer and naturally cooled areas.

The facade presents itself as a clean juxtaposition of glass and earthy materials, being punctured by wood to blend with the scenery outside. A bold play of geometry touched with the subtle taste of its material palette, a deep understanding of landscape, with the blending effect of the contours, this design creates an escape from the bustling noise in one’s mind.

The project is especially challenging because of its unlimited contours, being taken up as a Pandora box opening up a plethora of possibilities, allowing for an out of the box form and design.
