A multi-floor sanctuary of three families, this plot is present in one of the most prominent streets of Punjabi Bagh, facing the main road of West Delhi. While the home catered to three large families, creating space restraints and the challenges of varying user bases; the main focus of the client was the elevation. The design's aim was to not get bogged down by spatial features and strive for timelessness, hence 'Aayam'

Every person in the family associated themselves with a specific design ideology.  The aim of the elevation was to exude strength and grandeur, while inculcating the personality of everyone.
The final elevation came out to be a subtle, yet bold blend of a strong dark stone, sleek wooden louvres, booming volumes, an exciting play of windows, a soft beige base, topped with the green warmth of plants. Together, the elevation depicts a strong sense of bonding, despite its diversity; both literally and metaphorically.

The basis of the design was to cater to the varied user base, ensuring the needs of every person be met. While the size of the plot could be considered ample, the client demands, and a limited light source created a true spatial challenge for the design. With one floor catering to a family of 8, an area of 4000 sq. ft. had to inculcate a lavish common space, a modern themed mandir, separate lifts connecting the first floor and the basement, and four bedrooms with their unique lounge spaces.

The focus of the design was to make sure that the space restrictions do not take weight over the timelessness of the design; creating a space that exudes luxury and ampleness. Each room was designed with a unique mindset, making it a haven for its particular user, while allowing light to seep into every corner of the house, through different cutouts and angles. From a corner windowed bedroom to a bay window study-sitting, from a foldable glass mandir space to a curved glass lift, the design showcases the true beauty of diversity of thought; while holding the flag of a functional layout.
